Rector Cares Essay Competition for Secondary Students 2024

Rector Cares 2024 Essay competition for SS1 and SS2 students is currently ongoing

This is a call for application for SS1 and SS2 students  who are passionate about water conservation and environmental sustainability.

You are invited to join the Rector Cares Foundation School Essay WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) Competition and share your innovative ideas for addressing Lagos’ water challenges.

SS1 and SS2 students are encouraged to participate and propose practical solutions to ensure a sustainable water future for our city.

Eligibility:

  1. Open to students currently in SS1 or SS2.
  2. Students must be enrolled in a recognized secondary school in Lagos.

Essay Topic:

“The Critical Role of WASH in Promoting Sustainable Development in Lagos.”

Guidelines:

Essay Length:

The essay should be between 1000 and 2000 words.

Formatting:

  • The essay must be typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font, and double-spaced.
  • Include a title at the top of the first page.
  • Ensure proper citation of any sources or references used.
  • Duration: October 1st – 31st October

Submission Deadline:

All essays must be submitted by 31st of October.

Judging Criteria:

Essays will be judged based on originality, creativity, clarity, and the feasibility of proposed solutions.

Grammar, spelling, and adherence to the guidelines will also be considered.

NCDMB Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition

This is a call for application to all interested undergraduate to the NCDMB Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition which is sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

AIM OF THE NCDMB COMPETITION

to promote academic excellence and Nigerian Content to encourage the youths to build local capacities and competencies to prepare for effective participation in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas industry.

2024 Essay Topic: NIGERIAN CONTENT AND OPPORTUNITIES IN AFRICAN LOCAL CONTENT ADVANCEMENT

CONTEST RULES

  1. This contest is open only to 100-200 level students in public and private Nigerian – Universities and Polytechnics.
  2. The competition opens on 16th September 2024 and closes 14th October, 2024.
  3. Completed manuscripts and accompanying documents must be submitted to www.ncdmbessay.ng on or before 14th October, 2024. Late manuscripts will not be accepted. Applicants are to register HERE to submit their essay.
  4. Entrants must submit either a letter of admission or a signed letter of attestation from his/her Head of Department (HOD).
  5. All essays must be original works specifically written for the competition.
  6. Co-authorship of essay is not permitted.
  7. Entrants are to submit only one entry.
  8. Manuscripts must not exceed 1,500 WORDS.
  9. Current contact information of each entrant including phone number and email address MUST ACCOMPANY THE MANUSCRIPT, IN THE PROVIDED ESSAY SUBMISSION FORM WHEN LOGGED IN FOR SUBMISSION.
  10. Entrants’ NAMES SHALL NOT APPEAR ON THE MANUSCRIPT (i.e content of your essay).
  11. Shortlisted entrants will be contacted for the final round INTERACTIVE ASSESSMENT on or before 28th of October, 2024.
  12. Prizes will be awarded as follows: N1,000,000 for 1st place, N700,000 for 2nd place and N500,000 for 3rd place.
  13. All top 10 National Finalists shall each receive a laptop.
  14. Essays will be judged based on: Clarity of Expression, Spelling and Grammar, Originality of thought, Depth of Analysis, Relevance to Industry, and Conformity to Contest Rules.
  15. All essays will be subjected to plagiarism check (software application) to determine originality.
  16. The award/prize giving ceremony comes up 14th November, 2024
  17. The winning essay will be published in the NCDMB’s in-house magazine, Local Content Digest.

 

NOTE: Do not include your personal details inside the ESSAY CONTENT i.e your email, phone number, address, name, University and state or else it will be disqualified.
