NECO Releases 2024 SSCE Internal Results: Performance Statistics Revealed

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2024 SSCE internal results. This announcement was made on Thursday, September 19, by NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, during a press briefing in Minna.

Key Statistics from the 2024 SSCE Results:

  • A total of 1,376,423 candidates registered for this year’s internal examination, consisting of 709,950 males and 669,473 females.
  • 1,367,736 candidates actually sat for the exam, including 702,112 males and 665,624 females.
  • 828,284 candidates, representing 60.55%, achieved five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Overall, 1,147,597 candidates, or 83.90%, scored five credits or more, regardless of English and Mathematics.
  • Among these, 2,267 candidates were identified with special needs.

There was a notable 30.1% decrease in examination malpractice cases this year, with 8,437 candidates involved compared to 12,030 in 2023.

Performance by States:

  • The highest-performing states were Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi, while Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Borno, and Zamfara recorded the lowest performance.
  • NECO identified 40 schools involved in mass cheating across 17 states, which will face appropriate sanctions after discussions with the council.
  • Additionally, 21 supervisors in 12 states have been recommended for blacklisting due to various forms of misconduct, including poor supervision and negligence.

Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) wishes to inform you that the Coordinating Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare has approved the release of results of the Professional Examination in Midwilery – September 2024

Important NMCN Notice to candidates

Summary of the results indicated that four thousand, seven hundred and Filly-three 14,753) candidates were successful representing 80% with the breakdown as follows

a) Post Basic Midwifery: Two thousand, one hundred and thirty-seven (2,137) candidates were successful, representing 92% pass

b)

  • Basic Midwifery: One thousand, eight hundred and thirty-five (1,835) candidates were successful, representing 72% pass.
  • Basic Midwifery (Refreshers): 16 candidates were successful, representing 100% pass
  • Community Midwifery: Seven hundred and sixty-five (765) candidates wme successful, representing 89% pass

Heads of the training institutions are hereby directed to check the result of their institution(s) on-line as from Monday 16 September, 2024

  1. Successful candidates are hereby directed to visit the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Portal to apply on-line for registration and licensing with effect from 16 September, 2024
  2. Please note that on-line registration Formalities Including payment of registration the should be completed within ninety (90) days. Furthermore, any application for registration initiated and not completed within thirty (30) days will be automatically deleted by the portal
  3.  Late registration attracts a penalty fee of Sixteen thousand, two hundred and fifty Naira (16,250.00) only, per applicant after ninety (90) days. Additionally, a penalty fee of six thousand, five hundred and sixty-two Naira (N6,562.00) only will be charged per year in default of first licensing
  4. The next Professional Examination in Midwidery is to be held from Tuesday 11 Friday 14 March, 2025.
  5. Heads of nursing training institutions are hereby requested to send statistics of eligible candidates for March, 2025 Professional Examination in Midwifery to exam@nmcn.gov.ng on or before 31 December, 2024 using Examination Application Checklist (EAC). Kindly note that Examination Application Checklist received after this date will be rejected outrightly.
  6. Please acknowledge receipt of the result and contact the Registrar/CE) immediately for rectification of any error. Council will not entertain any complaint after thirty (30) days of release of result.
