The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), through its Centre for Petroleum and Energy Resource Economics (CPERE), has announced the commencement of applications for admission into its Postgraduate Programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
These programmes are open to candidates from diverse professional and academic backgrounds, including Social Sciences, Engineering, Geosciences, Management Sciences, Finance, Law, Education, Military, and Agriculture. According to EducationNGR, the initiative aims to equip professionals with advanced skills in petroleum, energy economics, and related policy areas.
Postgraduate Programmes at UNIABUJA
The postgraduate courses available include:
- Doctorate in Energy Economics (Full-Time and Part-Time)
- Master of Science (MSc) in Energy Economics (Full-Time and Part-Time)
- Masters in Energy Economics (Full-Time and Part-Time)
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Energy Economics
Each programme offers specialisations in:
- Energy Policy and Innovation
- Energy Finance
- Energy and Environment
- International Oil and Gas Management
- Renewable Energy Economics
- Electricity Economics
General Admission Requirements
Applicants must:
- Possess five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
- Hold relevant qualifications depending on the level applied for:
- Doctorate: Master’s degree in Petroleum or Energy Economics or equivalent.
- Master’s: Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second Class Lower Division, or a PGD in Petroleum or Energy Economics.
- PGD: Minimum of Third Class Bachelor’s degree or HND (Lower Credit) in a related field.
- Provide a valid NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
Programme Duration
- Doctorate: Full-time (minimum 36 months), Part-time (minimum 42 months)
- Master’s: Full-time (3–6 semesters), Part-time (6–8 semesters)
- PGD: Full-time (2–4 semesters), Part-time (4–6 semesters)
