Duration of Programmes

Applicants with O’Level results will study for four years, while Direct Entry candidates will spend three years.

Admission Requirements

For O’Level Applicants

Applicants must possess five credit passes in WAEC/SSCE, NECO, GCE O’Level, or an equivalent examination.

The credits must include English Language and Mathematics, along with three other relevant subjects.

Some subjects may not be acceptable for certain courses.

For Direct Entry Applicants

Candidates must have at least two A’Level passes in HSC, GCE, or JUPEB in relevant subjects.

Alternatively, applicants with NCE/Diploma (Upper Credit) from recognised institutions are eligible.

All Direct Entry candidates must also possess five credit passes in relevant O’Level subjects.

UNIPORT Important Notice Fake Recruitment 2024

The University of Port Harcourt, (UNIPORT)  has denied circulating social media claims of ongoing recruitment, labeling them as false and warning the public against potential scams.

The University of Port Harcourt has refuted claims circulating in the media about ongoing recruitment at the institution.

 

In a statement released on Monday by the university’s spokesperson, Dr. Sam Kpenu, UNIPORT addressed reports on social media falsely alleging that the university is recruiting both teaching and non-teaching staff.

Kpenu clarified that the university has not issued any such recruitment advertisement, calling the claims misleading and attributing them to fraudulent individuals.

“The attention of the University of Port Harcourt management has been drawn to a circulating social media publication suggesting the university is hiring staff. “We want to firmly state that these claims are false.

The public is advised to disregard these deceptive publications, which are likely created by scammers targeting unsuspecting individuals,” the statement read. Kpenu further emphasized that any official recruitment would be announced through credible media outlets and the university’s official website, www.uniport.edu.ng, not on social media platforms.

UNIPORT Releases Briefings s on Cult Clash Casualties

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has wishes to debunk claims that students were injured or killed during a cult clash on its Abuja campus on Wednesday. September, 2024.

Reports suggest that a clash between two factions of the Vikings Confraternity left one student severely injured, with three suspects apprehended.

The altercation, allegedly sparked by leadership disputes within the group, resulted in one student being attacked with a machete. The injured student is currently receiving medical treatment, and rumors of a death have been dismissed.

  • Student Union President, Azirindu Martins, confirmed the incident, urging the university security to conduct regular checks in bushy areas, as weapons used were not from the campus.
  • He stressed that no student died and that immediate action by campus security, police, and the Vice Chancellor prevented further escalation.
  • Martins noted, “No student died. It was a cult clash between two factions of the Vikings Confraternity.
  • The school security and police acted quickly, and three individuals were apprehended.” In a press release, university spokesperson Sam Kpenu emphasized that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Georgewill, was present at the scene, ensuring order was restored.
  • Kpenu reiterated UNIPORT’s zero-tolerance policy towards cultism, confirming the campus remains peaceful with students continuing their regular activities.

 

“The University of Port Harcourt wishes to clarify that no student was killed or injured during the incident, and the situation was swiftly managed by the school’s management, security unit, and the Nigeria Police.

 

The apprehended individuals are now in police custody,” Kpenu stated.

He also refuted exaggerated reports from some online sources.

The University of Port Harcourt hereby notifies candidates who chose the University as first choice in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and obtained a minimum score of 160 that the UNIPORT Post-UTME Screening Exercise has been scheduled and admission form is currently on sale.

IMPORTANT DATES AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

•Eligible candidates are to input UTME Registration Number and confirm pre-loaded UTME details.

•Generate Remita code for payment with your master, visa or verve card etc OR Printout Payment Slip and proceed to any of the following Banks with Remita platform (ACCESS BANK PLC, ECOBANK PLC, FIDELITY BANK PLC, FIRST BANK PLC, FCMB, UBA PLC, AND UNIPORT-CHOBA MICROFINANCE BANK) and make payment of N2,000.00 only.

•Obtain a Remita receipt showing an Access Code from the Bank teller confirming the payment.

•Proceed back online and Login with your UTME Registration Number and the Access Code on the payment slip.

•Complete the Form online as requested. Print Photo Card for the Screening Exercise clearance.

•Reprint Photo Card a day to the examination.

•Note the date and time of Screening on the Photo Card.

•CANDIDATES WHO FAIL TO REGISTER WITHIN THE REGISTRATION PERIOD WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SCREENING EXERCISE.

 

MATERIALS NEEDED FOR UNIPORT POSTUTME SCREENING EXERCISE

Candidates are required to come with the following:

A clear copy of the Photo Card printed online and pen.

NOTE:

•Inconsistency in name or picture on Registration Slip is not acceptable to the University and may lead to disqualification of affected candidates.

•Candidates’ names on their O’Level Certificates, UTME Results and other registration documents must be the same. Candidates MUST be sixteen (16) years of age or above by October 2024, to be eligible for the exercise.

•Mobile Phones, iPad, iPod, Walkman and similar gadgets or any extraneous materials will not be allowed into the Screening Venue and its environs.

•Candidates must apply within the Registration Period as the online link for the Application Form will be disabled at MIDNIGHT OF THURSDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER, 2024.

•Registration is online; therefore, candidates are not expected to be present physically on the University Campus, but advised to register from any location.

•Candidates who chose the University as second choice and wish to be considered for admission can apply for the Screening Exercise ONLY when they have made a change to the University of Port Harcourt as their First Choice. Such change must be made latest MONDAY, 16TH SEPTEMBER, 2024.

•Candidates must ensure that their O’Level results are uploaded to JAMB website as soon possible as those who do not, will not be considered for admission.

•Candidates must ensure that they register with their own valid personal telephone (GSM) numbers and email addresses.

•Candidates must report to the designated Screening Venues at the time scheduled on the Photo Card or risk disqualification.

•PARENTS AND GUARDIANS, AS WELL AS UNINVITED SECURITY AGENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE CAMPUS ON THE DAYS OF THE SCREENING EXERCISE.
