The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, has officially announced the opening of applications for the fourth batch of students into its School of Anaesthetic Technology for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The three-year professional programme is designed to train skilled Anaesthetic Technicians who will support surgical and emergency teams in hospitals across Nigeria and beyond. EducationNGR learnt that the initiative reflects LASUTH’s commitment to building competent health professionals capable of handling the increasing demand for anaesthesia services.
Entry Requirements
To qualify for admission, applicants must:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old.
- Possess five (5) O’Level credits in WASSCE, NECO, or SSCE, obtained in not more than two sittings.
- Mandatory subjects: English Language and Mathematics.
- Have credits in two of the following core science subjects — Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
These requirements ensure that only candidates with a solid science background are considered for training.
Duration of Course
The training runs for three (3) years at LASUTH. Upon successful completion, graduates will earn a Certificate in Anaesthetic Technology, which qualifies them to work as Anaesthetic Technicians in hospitals and surgical centres.
How to Apply
Interested and qualified candidates should obtain the application forms from the Department of Anaesthesia, located at the Old Administrative Building, LASUTH, Ikeja.
Completed forms must be submitted with the following documents:
- Photocopies of academic credentials
- A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Two recent passport photographs
All submissions should be made at the same venue where the forms were obtained.
Admission Procedure
Applicants will undergo a written examination at LASUTH. Successful candidates from the exam will be invited for an oral interview. Final admission decisions will depend on performance in both stages.
Closing Date
The sale and submission of forms will close four (4) weeks from the date of this announcement. Candidates are advised to apply early to avoid last-minute delays.
