The Federal University Lokoja, in partnership with Kogi State Polytechnic, has rolled out admission for its special undergraduate degree programmes. This arrangement is not new in spirit, but for many candidates, it is a golden chance to turn a Higher National Diploma into a degree, or to upgrade a university qualification without quitting their day jobs.

About the programme

The special degree scheme runs at the Lokoja Polytechnic campus, making it easy for those in the state and beyond to attend. Classes are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays, keeping the weekdays free for work or other duties.

  • Duration: six semesters, spread across three years.
  • Mode: part-time, weekend-based.

The plan is simple, yet structured enough to suit people balancing study and work.

Who can apply

Applicants need to meet some set conditions. They are not too heavy but must be followed.

  • A minimum of five credits at O’level, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
  • HND holders with at least a pass or university graduates with a third-class degree.
  • A valid NYSC certificate of discharge, exemption, or exclusion.

  2. Generate an RRR payment invoice of ₦20,000 using Remita services, either by ATM card or direct bank payment.
  3. Click “Pay Now” to complete the fee.
  4. Fill in the form online and submit.
  5. Print out your evidence of submission for record keeping.

The sales window opens 11 September 2025 and closes by midnight on 6 November 2025. Missing the deadline means waiting another year.

Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, in collaboration with Federal University Lokoja, has opened the door for its Top-Up Degree and HND Conversion programme. It is a chance for people with Higher National Diploma certificates to move up into full university degrees. It also gives university graduates who left with third class results a way to remedy and stand tall academically. In short, the programme bridges a gap many Nigerians know too well.
