Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, will graduate a total of 148 students at its 7th Convocation Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, 30th October 2025. Out of this number, 22 students will earn First Class Honours, reflecting the university’s dedication to academic excellence and moral growth.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on Tuesday, 28th October 2025, at the Senate Chamber. The briefing marked the beginning of activities leading to both the convocation ceremony and the university’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
Highlights of the Augustine University Convocation
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Alaba Akinwale, OP, stated that 148 students will receive first degree certificates, while 21 others will be awarded diploma certificates.
The diploma graduates are from the St. Gregory School of Pastoral Music, which is affiliated with Augustine University through the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. The partnership showcases the university’s ongoing collaboration in advancing education that combines scholarship, creativity, and spiritual values.
Prof. Akinwale congratulated the graduating class, describing their success as evidence of the university’s commitment to nurturing both intellect and character. He noted that this year’s ceremony carries added meaning as it coincides with the institution’s 10th anniversary.
A Decade of Growth and Service
Reflecting on the milestone, the Vice-Chancellor described Augustine University’s ten years as a period of steady progress built on integrity and service to society. He restated the university’s mission of producing graduates who are morally upright, academically sound, and capable of contributing meaningfully to national and global development.
The Overall Best Graduating Student for the 2025 class is Miss Ifeoluwa Anne Adeyera from the Department of Chemical Sciences, who attained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.90.
The convocation lecture, titled “AUI at 10: Fulfilling the Mandate of Providing Integral University Education for a Borderless World,” will be delivered by Professor Steve Afolami, the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Augustine University.
Other events scheduled for the ceremony include the inauguration of the 2nd Pro-Chancellor, Rt. Hon Dame Winifred Akpani FCA KSS OFR, the presentation of awards and prizes to outstanding graduates, and the formal conferment of degrees and diplomas.
