
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has announced the appointment of Professor Uduma Oji Uduma as its new Vice-Chancellor. His appointment takes effect on 11 February 2026, following the completion of the current Vice-Chancellor’s tenure.
The decision came after the Governing Council reviewed and approved the recommendation of the Board. This marks another step in the University’s effort to strengthen academic leadership and sustain its growth.
About Professor Uduma O. Uduma
Professor Uduma Oji Uduma is a Professor of Philosophy and Logic and also a Barrister-at-Law.
Born on 30 January 1966, he earned his first degree from the University of Calabar, where he graduated as the best student in his faculty. He later obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philosophy from the University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007.
Academic and Administrative Career
Throughout his academic journey, Professor Uduma has held several key roles, including Head of Department, Director of General Studies, Director of Academic Planning, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at NOUN.
He also served as Study Centre Director at Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, where student enrolment rose from 496 to over 2,000 under his leadership. His work has been widely recognised for its academic rigour and impact, and he maintains a strong research presence, reflected in his visibility on Google Scholar.
