Crawford University in Igbesa, Ogun State, has appointed a new Vice-Chancellor to lead the institution. Professor Oluremi Reuben Adebiyi will take over as the university’s new Vice-Chancellor, effective from July 1, 2025. This was announced by the university’s Governing Council after a thorough selection process.
Professor Adebiyi, a respected scholar of Sociology, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan, where he graduated with a Second-Class Upper Division. He also holds a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the same university. His academic journey is marked by excellence and a deep commitment to education.
Before his appointment, Professor Adebiyi served as a Professor of Sociology at Redeemed University, Ede, Osun State. He has held various leadership positions, including Head of the Sociology Department at Bowen University, Iwo, from 2005 to 2010. He also served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the same university from 2010 to 2012. His extensive experience in academic leadership makes him a strong fit for Crawford University.
The Governing Council expressed confidence in Professor Adebiyi’s ability to lead the university to new heights. They highlighted his impressive academic record and administrative skills as key reasons for his selection. The council believes he will drive the university’s vision of providing quality education and fostering research and innovation.
Professor Adebiyi succeeds Professor Isaac Adetunji Ajayi, whose tenure as Vice-Chancellor has ended. The university community is excited about this new chapter and looks forward to working with Professor Adebiyi to achieve the institution’s goals.
