The Fola Aina Scholars Programme is here to empower you!. Are you a bright and ambitious student from Boluwaduro, Ila, or Ifedayo LGA in Osun State? Do you dream of educational excellence but need support to achieve your goals?

This impactful program seeks to equip 10 exceptional indigenous scholars in secondary and tertiary institutions across the three LGAs with the resources and support they need to thrive academically.

Eligibility Criteria for Fola Aina Scholars Programme:

  • Origin and Residence: Applicants must be indigenous to and reside in Boluwaduro, Ila, or Ifedayo LGA, with valid documentation to prove both.
  • Age Bracket: 11-17 years for secondary school applicants and 16-21 years for undergraduate applicants. Proof of age is required.
  • Institutional Affiliation: Provide documentation confirming your enrollment in a secondary school or tertiary institution.

Competition Stages

The first stage takes place on the MTN mPulse website and is open to students aged 9 to 15 years.

The top 1000 participants from the first round will receive email invitations to join the second stage, which will also be conducted online.

The top 20 students from the second round will qualify for the Grand Finale, which will be held as a physical event.

MTN Spelling Bee Requirements

To participate in the MTN Spelling Bee Competition, students must:

  • Be primary or secondary school students in Nigeria.
  • Be between the ages of 9 and 15.
  • Live in Nigeria.
  • Register as students to participate in the competition.

Parents are not allowed to take part in the competition.

MTN Spelling Bee Competition Rewards

The MTN Spelling Bee Competition offers several prizes for students, their schools, and their teachers.

1st Prize

  • Student: ₦5 million scholarship grant, 1 laptop, 1 smartphone, and an mPulse goody bag.
  • SchoolICT lab with 10 laptops and 10 MTN Hynetflex devices.
  • Teacher: ₦500,000 cash prize.

2nd Prize

Scholarship Awards Eligibility

To qualify for the Ekiti State Government Scholarship Award, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Be in their 2nd year or above in their course of study.
  • Possess a WASSCE/NECO certificate with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in one sitting.
  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 4.0 for university students or its equivalent, 3.50 for polytechnics, and 3.50 for NCE students.

For Master’s Degree and Ph.D. candidates, a 2nd Class Upper Division at the undergraduate level is required. Ph.D. applicants must have a distinction in their Master’s Degree. A letter of recommendation from the Head of Department is also necessary.

Physically challenged students in universitiespolytechnicscolleges of education, and schools of nursing/midwifery are eligible for the Handicapped Scholarship Award.

Part-time and Sandwich students are not eligible for this award.

Bursary Awards Eligibility

All students in undergraduate programmespolytechnicscolleges of education, and health institutions are eligible for the Ekiti State Government Bursary Award.

About the Commonwealth Short Story Prize

The Commonwealth Short Story Prize began in 2012 under the guidance of Commonwealth Writers, a project of the Commonwealth Foundation.

The competition seeks to find and celebrate new voices from all 54 Commonwealth countries.

Each year, between 6,000 and 7,000 entries are submitted from around the world.

Prizes for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize

Five winners will be chosen, one from each region.

One regional winner will become the overall winner.

  • Overall Winner: £5,000.
  • Regional Winners: £2,500 each.

All winning stories will be published in Granta, a respected literary magazine.

Eligibility for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize

To enter the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, ensure the following:

  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of a Commonwealth country or a stateless person living in a Commonwealth country.
  • Dual Citizenship: If holding dual citizenship of two Commonwealth countries, the entry will be judged in the region where permanent residence is.
  • Age: Must be 18 years or older by 1st November 2024.
  • Unpublished Work: Stories must be unpublished in any language and remain so until 1st May 2025.
  • Previous Winners: Past overall winners cannot enter again, nor can those who have won the regional prize three times.
  • Staff Members: Employees of the Commonwealth Foundation are not eligible.
  • Other Competitions: Entries shortlisted or winning in other competitions are allowed if unpublished.

The 2024 World Maritime Day theme “Navigating the future: safety first!” reflects IMO’s work to enhance maritime safety and security, in tandem with the protection of the marine environment, whilst ensuring its regulatory development process safely anticipates the fast pace of technological change and innovation.

GUIDELINES to Apply for NIMASA Essay Competition 2024

  1. This Special Category is open to students of Maritime Tertiary Institutions & Institutions with Maritime Departments
  2. Participants are required to scan bona fide proof of studentship alongside their essays. Proof should include letters of admission and identity cards of the institution.

  4. Essays should be maximum of 1200 words (+or-10%) double spaced in MS word and font size 12 Plagiarism and the use of Al will not be accepted.

ELIGIBILITY for Ekiti State Scholarship Scholarship & Bursary Awards 2024/2025:

A: SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:

Applicants must be in 2nd year and above in their courses of study to be qualified for undergraduate Scholarship Awards. And must possess WASSCE/NECO. with a minimum of five Credits including Engisn Language and Mathematics at a sitting, and minimum CGPA of 4.0 for University or equivalent of a Second Class (Upper Division), 3.50 for Polytechnics and 3.50 for NCE in their current institutions of study.

Applicants for Master’s Degree and Ph.D Scholarship Award must possess a minimum of 2nd Class (Upper Division) at Undergraduate level. A grade of distinction in Master’s Degree is an additional prerequisite for Ph.D Scholarship Award.

For Ph.D Scholarship, any candidate with a first degree certificate lesser than second class (Upper Division) and a grade of distinction in master’s degree is not eligible. A letter of recommendation from the H.O.D. is required.

Physically Challenged Students in Tertiary Institutions (University, Polytechnic, College of Education, School of Nursing/Midwifery, College of Health Tech and Post Graduates) are qualified for the Handicapped Scholarship Award.

Students on Part-Time and Sandwich Courses are NOT qualified for the Scholarship Awards.

All undergraduates, Polytechnics, College of Education, Schools of Nursing/Midwifery, Colleges of Health Technology Students are eligible.
