UNIZIK Announces Amnesty for Overstayed Students 2025/2026

The Senate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has approved an amnesty window for overstayed students across all programmes, including Regular, Continuing Education Programme (CEP), and Sandwich. This decision was reached during the Senate’s 238th Meeting, held on Friday, 3rd October 2025, at the Zephaniah Mmadubuko Auditorium.

This special measure aims to provide overstayed students the opportunity to complete their studies within a structured academic plan for the 2025/2026 to 2026/2027 sessions

 

 

UNIZIK Amnesty Window: Key Approvals and Guidelines

The UNIZIK Senate approved the following resolutions regarding the amnesty window:

  1. Course Registration Limit: Overstayed students are allowed to register their outstanding courses up to a maximum of 72 credit hours, spread across four semesters, with a maximum of 24 credit hours per semester.
  2. Grading Restriction: No overstayed student is permitted to score higher than a grade “C” in any examination taken during the amnesty period.
  3. Outstanding Fees: The settlement of any outstanding fees will be handled administratively by the university management.
  4. Refresher Support: Overstayed students will receive special academic support through refresher courses before examinations to help them prepare effectively.
  5. Duration of Amnesty: The amnesty period runs from the 2025/2026 to the 2026/2027 academic sessions.

The approved window gives affected students another chance to regularise their academic records and complete their degree programmes successfully.
