EducationNGR also learnt that the announcement was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, during a press briefing where he reflected on the university’s two decades of academic growth, research advancement, and commitment to innovation and student welfare.

Prof. Ayuba described the milestone event as both a moment of thanksgiving and reflection, highlighting the university’s transformative journey since its establishment in 2005 by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA). He reaffirmed Bingham University’s mission to produce graduates who are academically sound, skilled, self-reliant, and God-fearing. According to him, “the university now runs 15 Faculties and 63 Departments offering 48 undergraduate and 59 postgraduate programmes.” While the main campus is in Karu, the College of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital are located in Jos.

Week-Long Anniversary and Convocation Activities

Prof. Ayuba disclosed that the 20th Anniversary celebration will feature a series of activities, including:

  • A special church service
  • Convocation lecture
  • Project commissioning
  • Photo exhibition
  • Essay competition
  • Sports events
  • Vice-Chancellor’s luncheon and awards

The grand convocation ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the University Chapel.

Breakdown of Graduating Students

A total of 1,576 graduands will be awarded degrees and diplomas as follows:

  • 1,116 Undergraduates
  • 460 Postgraduates

As part of the celebration, the university will unveil a special commemorative publication titled Bingham University @ 20, a 20-chapter book documenting the institution’s growth, innovations, and impact over the past two decades.

Commitment to Academic Excellence and Institutional Development

Commenting on the university’s steady academic progress, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized Bingham University’s shift toward a knowledge-based education model. He highlighted the roles of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development and various research centres as key drivers of innovation and skills training.

Addressing operational challenges, Prof. Ayuba noted that the university faces issues common in Nigeria’s higher education sector, particularly funding and electricity supply. However, he stated that management has taken proactive steps such as migrating to the Band A electricity category and adopting prudent financial strategies to sustain academic operations and infrastructure development.

On student welfare, he reiterated management’s commitment to promoting both spiritual and academic excellence while maintaining discipline and enhancing support systems for students.

NUC Reforms and Digital Competencies

Prof. Ayuba also commended the National Universities Commission (NUC) for introducing the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS), which integrate digital competencies and employability skills into tertiary education. He praised the inclusion of new fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, describing the reforms as timely and transformative for Nigeria’s university system.

In his closing remarks, the Registrar, Mr. Daburi Bello Misal, expressed deep appreciation to the media for their continued partnership with the university. He acknowledged the role of the press in projecting Bingham University’s achievements and encouraged sustained collaboration moving forward.

FUTES-IYIN Announces Resumption Date for the 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti (FUTES-IYIN), has officially announced the resumption date for the 2025/2026 academic session. EducationNGR also learnt that full academic activities at the institution will begin on Monday, 05 January 2026.

According to the management, the resumption exercise will include screening, registration, and orientation for newly admitted and returning students as the university prepares for the new academic year.

In addition, FUTES-IYIN has confirmed that the university’s student portal—through which students will pay tuition fees and complete all necessary registrations—will become active starting 01 December 2025.
