AIFUE
Alvan Ikoku FUE Debunks False Report on Admission Figures

The Management of the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFUE), Owerri, has strongly debunked a viral online report claiming that the institution admitted only 942 students for the 2024/2025 academic session, describing the publication as “malicious,” “puerile,” and “fabricated.”

In an official statement released on November 9, 2025, by the university’s Head of Public Relations, Mr. Nnaemeka Ijioma, AIFUE dismissed the report — published on theglittersonline.com.ng and circulated via Opera News — as baseless and misleading. The institution emphasized that the false claim, which alleged a link between the supposed low admission figure and potential loss of TETFund support, was a deliberate attempt to discredit the university.

EducationNGR gathered that the university has publicly announced its correct admission figure of 2,428 students during its historic first matriculation ceremony held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the University Pavilion in Owerri. The event was attended by thousands of students, parents, staff, dignitaries, and members of the press.

During the ceremony, the then Acting Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the institution admitted 2,383 Bachelor’s degree students and 45 Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) students — a figure widely reported by credible media outlets including The Nation Newspaper and verified on www.alvanikoku.edu.ng, the university’s official website.

AIFUE clarified that all admissions were processed strictly through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). This system, the university explained, ensures transparency and prevents any external manipulation. Therefore, the claim of admitting only 942 students was “implausible and unverifiable.”

The institution also reminded the public that it has been training degree students since 1981 under its former affiliation with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and currently has a student population of nearly 10,000, including UNN-affiliated students.

For the 2025/2026 academic session, AIFUE has already released two admission lists, admitting nearly 2,000 students. Following JAMB’s extension of the admission deadline for public universities from October 31 to November 17, 2025, the university said it is finalizing its intake and encouraging qualified candidates to change their first choice to AIFUE via the JAMB portal.

The university offers a variety of B.A., B.Ed., and B.Sc. degree programmes across the Arts, Education, Sciences, and Technology, and prospective students can obtain further details on its official website (www.alvanikoku.edu.ng).

Highlighting its strong institutional framework, AIFUE noted that it boasts experienced lecturers, modern laboratories, workshops, studios, and one of the best-equipped libraries in Imo State, including a functional e-library system. Additionally, four hostels are undergoing major rehabilitation funded by TETFund, underscoring the university’s commitment to quality education and student welfare.

In a firm tone, the university demanded the immediate retraction of the false article by theglittersonline.com.ng and an unreserved public apology, warning that failure to comply will result in legal action.

AIFUE concluded by urging the public, stakeholders, and prospective students to disregard the fake publication and rely exclusively on information from its official communication channels for credible updates.

AKSCONS
AKSCONS Releases 2025/2026 Admission List

The Akwa Ibom State College of Nursing Sciences (AKSCONS) has released the 2025/2026 admission list, marking the beginning of a new academic session for nursing students in the state. According to EducationNGR, the list is now available on the official school portal, and prospective students are encouraged to check their admission status immediately.

This update comes as part of AKSCONS’s continued commitment to maintaining transparency and efficiency in its admission procedures. The admission list includes successful candidates across all campuses, as well as a special floating list for applicants whose admissions are still undergoing processing through JAMB.

How to Check the AKSCONS Admission List

To confirm your admission status at the Akwa Ibom State College of Nursing Sciences (AKSCONS), follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit the official website via www.akscons.edu.ng.
  2. Click on the “Check Admission List” option on the homepage.
  3. Select your preferred campus to view the full list of admitted candidates.
  4. If your name is not listed under any campus, check the Floating List section for updates.

Understanding the Floating List

The floating list contains names of students who have been offered provisional admission but whose records are not yet visible on the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). EducationNGR also learnt that this delay usually occurs when candidates have not changed their first-choice institution to AKSCONS or have not completed related JAMB updates.

What to Do After Finding Your Name

Candidates whose names appear on the list are to:

  • Log into the JAMB portal starting from Tuesday, 11 November 2025, and accept their admission offer.
  • Expect to receive a provisional admission letter via email within 48 hours or download it directly from the student portal.
  • Pay the required acceptance fee through the official school portal as stated in the admission letter.
  • After payment, print the full admission letter and proceed to pay the school fees.
  • Note that resumption details will be clearly indicated in the admission letter.

For Students on the Floating List

Applicants whose names appear on the floating list should visit the Admission Office at the main campus, Ikot Ekpene, on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, starting from 9:00 a.m. The Admission Officer will provide further instructions on completing the admission process and updating their JAMB records.

Important Information for All Admitted Candidates

All registration and admission formalities must be completed within two weeks of receiving the provisional admission letter. Failure to do so may lead to automatic withdrawal of the admission offer. Students are advised to follow all payment and documentation procedures strictly through the official AKSCONS portal to avoid issues.

EducationNGR also reports that the college has reaffirmed its dedication to producing qualified nursing professionals who meet both national and international standards in healthcare delivery.
