The ILSA UI Memorial Writing Competition for 2025 is now open for entries. The International Law Students’ Association, University of Ibadan (ILSA UI) invites passionate law students across Nigeria to take part in this year’s contest and show their skills in memorial drafting and legal analysis.
This competition offers law students a chance to demonstrate their understanding of international law through practical advocacy-style writing.
About the ILSA UI Memorial Writing Competition
The ILSA UI Memorial Writing Competition is designed for students who are interested in legal writing and international dispute resolution. Participants will prepare written memorials based on a given legal problem.
Please note that students who register for this competition are not eligible to take part in the ILSA UI Essay Competition, and vice versa.
Who Can Participate
- Open to all law students currently enrolled in any recognised tertiary institution in Nigeria.
- Participants must submit their entries individually.
Prizes
Winners will receive cash awards as follows:
- Winner: ₦300,000
- First Runner-up: ₦200,000
- Second Runner-up: ₦100,000
These prizes aim to encourage academic excellence and nurture interest in international law practice among students.

- Complete the online submission form carefully.
- Access the memorial fact file to guide their submissions.
- Prepare and upload their memorials according to the provided instructions.
Submission Deadline
All entries must be submitted on or before 31 October 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted, so participants are encouraged to send their entries early.
